Downtown historic district:
This is definitely where the 18th Century meets the 21st. Walking along the tree-lined streets within New Bern's 12 blocks of historic district is a treat enjoyed by locals as well as thousands of tourists. Some of the finely restored homes within our historic district date back into the 1700's, and many into the 1800's. Restoration has been done with pride and craftsmanship unequaled. Historic preservation promises to maintain the charm and character innate in this beautiful area. Pride in ownership of these fine homes spills out onto the sidewalks. You find friendly, smiling faces throughout the historic district. Prices begin in the $200's and can soar rapidly to over $500,000.

Riverside historic district:
Recently added to the historic register, it is just a matter of time when our number of landmarks on the National Register of Historic Places exceeds 145. Riverside is just north of the downtown Historic district and gentrifying rapidly. It runs from the shores of the Neuse River west of National Avenue. Large homes and charming bungalows are well mixed along tree-lined sidewalks with small and well kept yards. Large porches grace homes both large and small. Homes here date back to 1896. Architecture ranges from Queen Anne, Victorian, Federal, to Craftsman bungalow style. Prices begin at around $100,000 and range to $200,000. A few bungalows can still be bought in need of renovation in the $60's.

Ghent historic district:
The newest of New Bern's three historic districts, admission into the National Register occurred in 1983. These homes were built from 1913 and growth and building continued into the 60's. Mixed among the many beautiful bungalows, are package homes from Sears to younger brick homes. Narrow lot lines, huge oak trees, sidewalks, and a gas lamp lined esplanade add character found nowhere in our area. Prices begin in the $70's and run into the $90's and run up to $200,000.

DeGraffenried Park:
Beautiful 2-story brick and frame homes with azalea filled yards complete one of New Bern's prettier neighborhoods. Located in the heart of New Bern, this neighborhood is very small and a must see in spring. Federal Architecture reigns here; however, other styles blend in well. Homes begin in the $150's on average.

Trentwoods:
Now incorporated into its own municipality, Trentwoods is hailed as one of our premiere areas for housing. Trentwoods has homes on the astounding Trent River and they range in value well in excess of $500,000. The remainder of Trentwoods is focused around the New Bern Golf and Country Club. Social activity is all around you here. Growth has spread this neighborhood through time and undeveloped lots are difficult to find. This area is well known for its secure investment and its aesthetic appeal to all ages. Winding lanes, huge hardwood trees, spacious lawns, stately homes, and peeks at the river are among a few of the area's charms. Within Trentwoods you will find the exciting subdivisions of Olde Towne on the Trent River, Towne Woods across from Olde Towne, Fox Hollow full of ranch style homes, Country Club Hills home of Bangert School, Belleferne, Creeks End, Wilson Creek, Country Club Park, and Haywood Farms on Haywood Creek. Prices within these areas range from $95,000 up to $1,000,000.

Greenbrier:
An exciting golf course community, this development began in 1985 around a Reese Jones designed golf course and was completely sold out in 10 years. Full of mature trees and enjoying a sublime location within the city limits of New Bern, this subdivision has great appeal to our very active retirees. Social life is dominant whether on the golf course, at the club house, or playing bridge. This beautiful subdivision is within walking distance to the finest medical facilities, our community college, fine dining, and shopping. Prices are now averaging better than $250,000 for beautiful brick homes of better than 1900 square feet. A variety of homes abound, with few looking alike, and your choices range from golf front, lakefront, or naturalized woods.

Taberna:
Our new Greenbrier! A gorgeous golf course. Beautiful club house built to reflect New Bern's Swiss heritage with a restaurant and pool. Tennis courts, nature trails, plus canoe docks on Brice's Creek. This development is only 4 years old and almost sold out. Homes expect to exceed the 750 count upon completion. Located only 5 miles outside of downtown New Bern, these homes are now averaging over $200,000 - $400,000.

River Bend: Designed along a series of canals leading to the meandering cypress-lined Trent River, this subdivision boasts hundred of well-priced homes. Golf course, lake front, river front, and townhomes are all available within River Bend. River Bend is home to folks from around the globe who settled here because of its warm and safe environment. Prices begin in the low $100's and are as high as $500,000 for river front. The average waterfront home within River Bend; however, would begin in the mid $200's and go up from there.

Fairfield Harbour:
This 3,000 acre resort development appeals to the boater (as it is located on Northwest Creek off of the Neuse and Broad Creek) and the golfer. Two 18 course golf courses are located within Fairfield. One private, one public. Hundreds of undeveloped lots are still available from $15,000 up. Homes begin in the $100's and run up to the $300's. This established community hosts activities beyond golf and boating. Brices Creek:
Part of township 7, this area is popular with our younger families. Homes range in size from 1400 square feet to 3000 square feet. Prices begin in the $200's and range upwards of $1,000,000 for river front homes. The average home being in the $160's. Family oriented subdivisions predominate the Brices Creek Area. Brices Creek itself is a very deep body of water which branches off of the Trent River and runs miles into our 200,000 acre National Forest named Croatan. Fine canoeing, fishing, and motor boating are enjoyed on Brices Creek daily during the summer.

James City:
Home to the sought after Brinson elementary school, James City is part of township 7. It is home to any number of fine subdivisions. The areas include Green Springs, Neuse Forest, Neuse River Estates, Grantham, and Rivershore Drive/Gibbs Road subdivisions. These areas feature homes from the $90's to over $1 million. Prices are still affordable but rising rapidly due to demand. A great deal of growth is being experienced in James City both commercially and residentially. Best of all, we are only 3 miles from downtown New Bern. All areas within James City are known for their mature trees, spacious lawns, privacy, value, and appreciation. You can find some superb waterfront values on the Neuse river in this area where the sunrise and moonrise and more beautiful than anywhere else in town.
